Northern Ireland youth international signs first professional deal with Liverpool
Northern Ireland Under-19s international Kieran Morrison has signed his first professional deal with Liverpool after starring for the Premier League club’s Under-18s this season.
The right wing, who started life in the centre of midfield but has gravitated onto the wing over the course of the season, has put pen to paper on his first full-time contract at Anfield after catching the eye for their underage sides.
Morrison has played up and down the age grades for ’Pool this year, featuring for their Under-21s in the Premier League 2, EFL Trophy and Premier League International Cup.
However, it is with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s Under-18s where the 17-year-old has dazzled, scoring 13 goals including two last week against Sunderland, while he has captained the side frequently over the course of the campaign.
Born in Manchester and a former Manchester United youth player, Morrison will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Northern Ireland star Conor Bradley, who has firmly established himself in the Liverpool senior team this season with some stellar displays.
While it will be a few years before he will likely be considered for the Reds in the Premier League, it is a show of faith from the club to tie him down to a deal so young, and he is set to be one of Northern Ireland’s star players at the upcoming Under-19 European Championships.
