The Covid-19 pandemic was an unprecedented event for health systems and politicians to deal with all over the world.

There were 5,685 deaths in NI after which the death certificate mentioned COVID as one possible cause.

Officials and ministers are now under scrutiny as they appear before the UK-wide Covid-19 Inquiry to account for the decisions they made.

The Belfast Telegraph’s Northern Ireland editor Sam McBride has following what’s been happening at the inquiry.
