On Saturday, Derry witnessed a remarkable turnout as 1,888 people gathered on Shipquay Street for the Rock the Boat world record attempt during the Jazz & Big Band Festival, with hundreds more cheering on from the sidelines.

This impressive gathering surpassed the previous record set in Galway's Salthill Promenade in 2019, which stood at 1,809 participants.

The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Patricia Logue, organised the event to raise funds for her designated charities - Foyle Hospice and the Ryan McBride Foundation.
