The NI Football League (NIFL) have announced a ‘ground-breaking’ television deal with DAZN for coverage of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership for the next three years.

The global sports entertainment platform will become the home of the League until 2027 after agreeing an exclusive broadcasting deal with NIFL that will see free coverage brought to fans.

The package will see DAZN show five exclusive live games across the season as well as highlights packages, interviews and features, while they will also work with NIFL on coverage throughout the campaign.

The deal comes just in time for the start of the new Premiership season, which kicks off on Sunday when defending champions Glentoran take on Crusaders at the Blanchflower Stadium in DAZN’s first live game.

“This is a landmark announcement for our League, we’ve worked hard over with our clubs the last few years to raise the profile of our League and to have the backing of DAZN investing in our product is testament to how far we’ve grown,” said NIFL chief executive Gerard Lawlor.

“We’re proud to be sitting alongside some of the biggest competitions in women’s football on DAZN and we’re looking forward to showcasing to fans around the world, the drama, excitement and talent on show in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership.”

DAZN is quickly glowing a reputation for being the home of women’s football as they also hold the rights to the Women’s Champions League and Liga F, as well as the Google Pixel Frauen Bundesliga, D1 Arkema and Ebay Serie A Femminile.

Esmeralda Negron, Co-CEO of women’s sport at DAZN, said “We look forward to working with NIFL to grow the profile of the league and engage an international audience.

"DAZN has the unique advantage of being able to offer NIFL a global platform through which to aggregate their content, increasing the discoverability of a League which is rich with talent but still commercially young.”
