Former Antrim ace Kieran McGourty is playing his part in helping to nurture a fresh generation of talent in the county.

McGourty, a proficient dual player with St Gall's, is in charge of the club's Under-16 side which will meet Burren in the quarter-finals of the Paul McGirr Memorial Tournament on Saturday (2.30pm).

The scoring exploits of his side to date will serve to send them into battle against the Down representatives in good heart and McGourty is certainly relishing the challenge they face.

"We believe that this St Gall's side is well capable of holding their own in any company, but we know that Burren will be a big test," maintains McGourty.

His side is laden with attacking talent, their full forward line of Dubhaltach Wilson, Connla Maguire and Dara Delaney in particular carrying a big threat.

Burren, under the baton of Aidan Woods, enter the tournament having overcome last year's Paul McGirr winners Kilcoo in emphatic fashion in the Down final last month.

In Saturday's other quarter-final, Fermanagh side Newtownbutler will face Cavan outfit Gowna.
