First team coach John Gregg is the latest person to leave Glentoran.

Gregg, a popular figure with the players and supporters at the Oval, announced his decision today on the social media platform X.

The former Institute boss became part of the backroom staff when Rodney McAree took over as manager in January 2023, helping the club qualify for Europe. He stayed on when McAree left for Dungannon Swifts last summer and worked under Warren Feeney and Declan Devine this season.

In a statement Gregg said: “With a heavy heart I have decided to leave my position at Glentoran.

“It has been fantastic working with such great volunteers, staff and players. Thanks to Rodney, Warren and Declan.

“The fans have been brilliant from day one and I wish the club all the best for the future.”

Gregg’s departure follows Seanan Clucas announcing he was exiting the Oval with Carrick Rangers one of the clubs considering a move for the midfielder.

Rhys Marshall is also leaving the Glens having agreed a deal to return to Glenavon.

Several other players will also be going including Bobby Burns, who has interest from Coleraine and Galway United while defender Luke McCullough has been linked with a transfer to home town club and newly promoted Portadown.
