A midlife coach has said feminism hadn’t reached Belfast in the 1970s and 1980s when she was growing up — but said modern women are now beginning to approach a place of equity with their male counterparts.

Alana Kirk (54) grew up in the Gilnahirk area of the city and had an exciting career travelling and working in the charity sector before she got married, settled in Dublin and started a family — giving birth to daughters Daisy (18), Poppy (16) and Ruby (13).
